Region 6-AAAAAAA

1. Mill Creek (4-0): The Hawks look like title contenders again this season. The defense is as stout as ever and the offense has big-play capability. With a bye week to clean up some of its offensive inconsistencies, look for Mill Creek to come out firing against Collins Hill this week.

2. Mountain View (4-0): The region's two seed could be determined on Friday as the Bears travel to North Gwinnett. Mountain View is off to its best-ever start and will likely have to beat North and Peachtree Ridge for the first time if they're going to earn a playoff spot. I think the Bears can do it. Quarterback Matthew Edwards has been impressive and big-time receiver Malachi Carter gives the offense the ability to stretch the field.

3. North Gwinnett (2-2): The Bulldogs have scored at least 23 points in every game this season. Ryan Lovelace ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns the last time out against Norcross. North's defense will have to come up with some more stops as the season goes if they want to have an extended playoff run. With guys like Drew Jordan, they're certainly capable of coming up with those stops.

4. Peachtree Ridge (1-3): After an impressive win over McCallie (Tenn.) in its opener, Peachtree Ridge has let three straight leads slip away to close out the non-region schedule. I still think that the Lions are talented enough to move past the losses and earn a playoff spot in this region. They'll rely on seniors Connor Heyward, Zane Ashley and Kam Jones to be the difference down the stretch.
